Turner Broadcasting [ GameTap ]
GameTap was an online videogame library and network launched by Turner Broadcasting. I worked on everything from the site launch, to branding, to creating original content and programming that ran on the GameTap network. Some of the programming also appeared as content on Adult Swim. The work received awards in virtually every category, including: print, radio, national TV, digital, and viral video. This TV spot has been played at the TED conference. It was added to the permanent film collection at the MOMA. And perhaps best of all, received a standing ovation when it was played at Namco headquarters in Japan.
This is a series created for the GameTap network. It's all about what video game characters are doing or thinking while they are waiting in the wings, so to speak. After all, they must be up to something when they're not being played.
I was creative director on this integrated campaign that included viral videos, (like the ones here) a website and TV campaign. All filmed on location in a real gulag outside Prague.
It all started with the idea that people in gulags, with no access to video games have to invent games of their own.
And it goes downhill from there.
